PENNY GUYON, founder of Firefly Media — a full-service marketing and communications agency with clients across the arts & entertainment, lifestyle, and non-profit sectors — engages with B2B and B2C clients including established brands, groundbreaking new start-ups, individual talent, or entities looking to pivot with a new message in a compelling and creative manner.

Guyon could be described as a “Yankee Belle.” Her aesthetic emerged from a Mad Men-style childhood on the East Coast, blending the best of summers in Kentucky, spring and fall in New York, and winters in the Berkshires.

Guyon’s CV boasts a career rich with tastemakers and game-changers. She started in NYC, as Co-founder of Bang Communications, a management firm at the forefront of the Latin Hip-Hop and Dance Music scene in the late 80’s early 90’s.  Guyon and her partner, launched synth-pop act Information Society from the Minneapolis and Bronx underground club world, into an MTV, Top 40 Hit-making band along with Nuyorican songstress INDIA (aka La India,) DJ Little Louie Vega, among others.

She honed her corporate chops, traveling the globe, as Senior Director of Publicity and Creative Services at Warner Music International handling campaigns for artists Seal, The Pretenders, Phil Colins, and The Three Tenors along with Latin superstars Maná, Café Tacuba and Luis Miguel as well as Brazilian icons Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and Jorge Ben Jor. Welcoming the offer to work directly with Madonna, Guyon anchored the superstar’s inner circle from the birth of Lourdes to the release of Ray of Light.

Guyon then moved to Los Angeles to accept a coveted position at Johns + Gorman Films in the music video division representing directors and visual artists. Eventually, Guyon returned to publicity joining DRPR, where the slate included Henry Rollins, Lionel Ritchie, Maverick Records’ soundtracks, and music producer David Foster and his record label 143.

With a nod to those halcyon nights in Kentucky, Guyon launched Firefly Media in 2001. With DNA/David Naylor & Associates on her roster, she publicized the powerhouse names behind its music videos and commercial productions. To wit: Marc Webb, Francis Lawrence, Liz Friedlander, Jean Baptiste-Mondino Rocky Schenck, Nzingha Stewart and other groundbreaking directors.

Firefly Media quickly established a dynamic roster with the LA Opera, legendary rock band The Who, sustainable brand Environment Furniture, Chef Dustin Harder/The Vegan Roadie, and impactful documentaries PlantPure Nation and Peter Bogdanovich’s Runnin’ Down a Dream about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to highlight a few.

Guyon has a deft touch and a respected voice. Her experience and media savvy defines the optimal audience for each client. Her team, thus directed, crafts individualized marketing and media campaigns.
